Imagine to be indulged by the most beautiful nature on earth, all on-board of a 110 meter yacht. This is Eden. It’s built on the concept of creating a spiritual journey for its guests, bringing all elements together and providing a balance for body, mind and soul. Using the latest technologies and design, Eden provides each guest a personalized experience onboard of this heavenly yacht.
For Eden, a multi-disciplinary team was formed. The exterior design has been developed by Edwin Vandermark. The interior design is created by Amna Mulabegovich and Koert Klaren has been responsible for the interior engineering. The AV and bespoken installations are build by VBH and its design label the Luxperience Lab.
When entering Eden, you are taken through the world and its sophisticated interior guaranties a personal journey. Using machine learning technology, it is possible to is possible to use the behaviour and state of the guest, to create a personalized experience. This will bring the ultimate condition to regain energy and escape from the daily hectic world.
Inside Eden: bringing nature on-board.
Eden brings nature on-board. The design brings the elements together to create a balance of body, mind, and spirit. This idea is brought by two items> the usage of natural and vertical gardens in the main lounge, and the installation of 3D printed tree in the centre of the yacht. The 3D printed tree becomes the metaphor for the journey you can take inside the yacht. By being set at the staircase, people can move around the yacht from the different spaces, but they will always pass the tree. The tree is printed from recycled 3D printing materials. This material is also special, because it contains incrusted seeds, allowing the tree to be a hub for nature. The advantage of being a printed object is that it provides a solid structure that allows the tree to be empty on the inside to introduce all the required structures to keep the tree alive, while at the same time AV technology brings the atmosphere of a forest through the staircase. For that matter, the staircase forms an experience in itself. Using projections from inside the tree, the atmosphere of the central space will continuously be altered. Following various scenarios, the space can create effects of a waterfall or moving clouds. the space will continually change with different scenarios, such as moving clouds and waterfalls. Hence, just like in any natural environment, there will be a constant change.
Blending technology and design for a personalized spiritual journal
The other big innovation with in Eden, comes from the personalized journey experience. As mentioned before, the user is tracked in order to deliver a space, where a person can feel at realization of their being, comfort and excitement at the same time. This allows to create a personal transformation. The meditation room was the perfect space, the design is a dome room, that is contained by two levels in the yacht. Having a diameter of 5 meters, this space is designed to guide the guest to have the experience needed to have a true moment with himself. Due to the dome structures, the guest will no longer feel confined to space. This is where technology and design blend. By using the light system, audio system and even the elements in the room such as furniture, floors and wall materials, a multisensory experience is created. Speakers and projection are set around the room to enable the space to have infinite possibilities and to provide the system the freedom to create a unique experience for each guest.
This installation among others contribute to the ultimate journey that Eden provides. Helping people change the way of travelling and experiencing true relaxation. Eden is just at the start of its development and it is already creating a journey not only for their guests but also for the team participating on the project. I want to thank the LuxperienceLab, Casper (my mentor), Goran, Amna, Koert and Edwin for this past 8 months of work and development.
